Arriving to Worship

When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our ushers. They will offer you a bulletin that will have an outline of our service and basic information for our congregation.

Our entire ceremony is shown on the screen in front of the church, including all the readings and song lyrics which allows everyone to participate fully in the service. If you would benefit from a large–print copy of our service or a hearing device, please ask, and an usher can assist you with these aides. There will be parts of the service when you are invited to stand if you are able. You will find a Hymnal and a Bible in the pews if you would like to use one.

After the service, the pastor will be in the narthex (the entrance) to greet everyone as they leave worship. You are invited to join us for refreshments and Bible Study, except during the summer months when we take a break.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will I be embarrassed?
When you visit our church, you will be our welcomed guest. You will not be singled out, asked to stand before the congregation, or to come forward. Pastor or others may mention they don't recognize you and would love to hear what brought you to worship with us.

Should I give an Offering?
Worship includes a time for returning to God our blessings for the continuing of His work here in Sawyer. We have a giving basket by the door, and collections placed in the plate support the ministry and mission of this church and across the world. Visitors are welcome but certainly not obligated to contribute.

What should I wear?
There is no dress code at Trinity! Come as you are. Although some people wear suits and dresses to the worship service, others wear nice casual attire or jeans.

Can I participate in Communion?
We generally have communion at Trinity on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

We believe that in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper that we receive the True Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ in, with, and under the bread and wine in accord with his own words in Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:19-20. In addition, we find Jesus' words quoted by Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25.

We believe that when we commune we receive the forgiveness of sins, have our faith strengthened, and are joined together as one body of believers according to Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:16-17.

We want to commune with you! That being said, if you are not a member of an LCMS Church, please see the pastor before communing. You may be asked at the altar before communing if you are a member of an LCMS church. This isn't to embarrass or demean those who are not, but to ensure that we are holding to our belief and practice at Trinity.

We don't believe that those who belong to differing church bodies are less Christian than we are, or anything ridiculous like that. We believe that, due to differing confessions of our faith and the lack of unity in a fallen sinful world, we may not commune together as those who aren't truthfully able to be one on this side of eternity. We eagerly await the day when the Church will be one in belief and practice in the presence of Christ.

For a list of non-LCMS churches with which we share a common confession and communion fellowship, please refer here.
